Disappearing originality of Haryanvi Culture
In last few months or years, it is being seen in Haryana that everyone wants to get to the foreign countries and if you will listen the conversation about moving abroad, they use the word for that is "बहार "(Bahar).
There are so many reasons that youth want to leave Haryana like reducing farming lands in state, unemployment basically we can say the need of money and expectation of making a better life.
Here the question is what is meaning of the better life is not this directly related to the material things, what about the life satisfaction mentally and emotionally.
When these people are moving out of country they are leaving behind their culture, their childhood, their society their celebrations and their sorrows too.
when this young man coming home in the evening tired and having his dinner may be a pizza or a burger, he must have been missing his food then his home....and then one thought would be colliding with other thoughts and clashed in his childhood where the picture of his grandmother would be coming to his mind in which she is sitting in front of chulha in which a soothing woodfire is burning and she is wearing a kurta salwar and have made a chunda(a special type of hair style of haryanvi old woman where she ties her hair in form of a choti and the somehow sticks that to her forehead)of her hair, making rot(a chapati bit bigger, thicker and crispy than normal chapati)and then crushing these rots in a paraat(a high hipped platter)for making choorma for his grandson.
this picture of his grandmother contains his whole childhood in itself, I am just interested to know how difficult it would have been for this man to explain to his children that who he is from where he is, wouldn't he feel like to pass on his values, his culture and stories of his childhood to his next generation.
Bonus Righting :
Choorma i mentioned above is the same choorma which Neeraj chopra always mentions in his interview as his favorite dish, and this dish everyone knows in haryana every mother and every grandmother mut have prepared that for the kids in house for sure.
Recipe OF Haryanvi Choorma(चूरमा) :
1. Prepare chapati of any Grain preferred is Bajra(Millet)Genhu(wheat).
2. Take gud(Jaggery) or Jaggery Powder(called shakker in haryanan and UP) and just wanted to mention that shakker is not formed by breaking the jaggery in powdered form. This has its own making process.
3. mesh these chapatis along with Jaggery or jaggery powder in their finest and softest form.
4. Pour lots of pure Deshi ghee in it until splashing sound comes out if this.
any way while my grandmother prepares this the amount of Ghee depends on how much my grandmother loves the person, she is making choomra for 😃
